My bro has a XF carby
on the tune label in eng bay says to set base timing it says to bridge timing connector? I have a ZL fairlane which im very familiar with the diag. connector and STI lead which are connected & a led to batt+ to get codes from ecu & ignition set by the breakable link on the TFI on dizzy. the xf dizzy is different and doesnt have this wire? it says in max ellerys to remove vacuum adv hose to dizzy of which it doesnt have either any ideas how to disable timing advance on this? |

Ignition system on XF carburetted models is EST ( electronic spark timing) to check the timing which is 10deg before tdc connect the 2 pin T connector terminals together,(This connector is found usually taped to the loom adjacent to the master cylinder. once the timing is set REMOVE THE JUMPER or the timing will stay in limp home mode at 10 deg and wont advance. Hope this helps

I was bridging the T piece (5 pin slots 2 with connecters in there?) and STI jumper together like efi adjust so no connection to STI trigger then |

For a start never believe or read a Max Ellery's manual, they are one of the poorest publications produced, there should be a law against them, they jump back wards and for wards between different models and normally print incorrect specifications. Saying this, I haven't got my XF factory manual with me, but I thought EST came out with unleaded XF? I am probably wrong, but I wont be loosing sleep over it.
