Hi all,
where can I get a (S5) VPS solenoid in Tasmania? cause my gearbox keeps going into 3rd (limp mode) even tho i've replaced the inhabitor switch from Ford, still goes back into limp mode sometimes, ford told me it will cost $649 for a (S5) VPS solenoid and $78 for the other 5 solenoids, very expensive anywhere I can get all 6 in a kit? for cheap? |

Are you sure they didn't quote you $649 for the part and installation?

Wow, unless I'm completely misunderstanding you it'll be $670 for the service and 5 solenoids. Not including the VPS..?

Are you sure it's the S5 causing it to go into limp mode?
A loose fitting wire connection on any of the shift solenoids will also cause it, If you break off the plastic wire holder for each solenoid & squash each terminal slightly to ensure a good connection - With those plastic clips fitted, you cannot tell if there is a good connection. Or a faulty external earth also causes code 98 - limp home mode |

Just came from the transmission mechanics, they say I need to change the solenoid (S1) anyone from the Hobart area willing to help me put one in? just requires taking the transmission pan off then fitting the new (S1) then top up with tranny fluid, so the car will need to be off the ground abit to get underthere. Am willing to pay abit for helping out.
