hey guy have a 6 cyl auto thats playing up. everytime i brake my cars rpm decreases to the point where it will stall if i dont tap the accelerator to keep the revs up. it was doing this for a while getting progressively worse and then the coil died. ive since replaced the coil but its still doing it making me think they were seperate problems. also when putting your car into base diagnosticmode to check the timing how exactly do you do it? do you have the keys in the igniton with the car off and short the two left hand pins or do you need to keep them shorted the whole time you are trying ckeck your timing??

big thanks in advance

join the 2x l/h pins on the diagnostic plug under the dash, start the car
the rpms will go up then after a few seconds (20sec- 1min) drop back down. u can now move the dizzy to line up the 10 degree marker on the crank to the timing cover marker. u only have 2 mins to do this, then the computer takes over again.
u may be able to get a bit more advance than the 10 degrees too, to give it a bit more pull bottom end on the revs, make sure to tighten the dizzy clamp
when test driving listen out for pinging
