Are these things what give AMG's, BMW's and the luxury HSV's that sparkle in the headlights?

If you have a look at hidplanet.com you will find that it's not that hard to do it yourself.

If you were to pay someone to do it for you, you'd be looking at at least $1200-$1400. Thats what I'd be charging if somebody asked me to do a set of BA headlights. If it were for EF/L fairmont lights I wouldnt even bother as it would be worth more than the car if I was to charge someone else to do it I spent a good 10 hours on removing the flutes from the headlight lens to make it clear, and I havent done the drivers side yet.

As you dont charge yourself labour and you can wait for the right bargain to buy a second set of headlights, I reckon you would come out at around $600-$700 in parts for BA headlights.

when these guys say 'plug and play' how plug and play are they infact?

Is it as easy as taking the wire from the original bulb and plugging it in to the ballast?

That is correct ... hence why the aftermarket versions usually have written in the fine print ... "off-road use only"

For those thinking about projector HID kits open the link below. Its relatively new,

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT

Its a simple kit but requires a bit of mucking around. From what I have read, the lens and the headlight housing need to be detached to install the projector lens.

that kit above, they were available around 6-9 months ago from another seller in china, he sold them for $60 and was $38postage.
i was looking into buying one of his kits, the problem for ef/el fairmont fitment is the focus ribs on the inside of the lense, they pinpoint the light too much as the magnifing lense sits too close to the plastic headlight lense
they were advertised as a direct h4 replacement and sat the hid setup where the old h4 globe went
