Hi all,

I have a 4.9 XF engine, and going to transplane it into an XE wagon.

Should be an easy job yes? Pretty much a straight swap?

if you mean the 4.1 then yes theyre all the same bar minor differences. should be easy, take the old one out, put the new one in.

That has to be one of the most confusing headings and posts I have seen for a while.

XF never had V8's, XP never had 4.1.

Not sure what you are actually taking about here?

If you mean swapping a 4.1 out of an XF into a XE, this could be simple, but you have different wiring etc and that is a bigger problem if it is an unleaded carby engine which has an ECU for ignition and a much bigger problem if it is EFI.

Next question is why you want to do it? i.e. engine worn out or change to unleaded etc

from what i have gathered, it seems to me that he has an XE wagon fitted with the 4.1 engine, and he is wanting to put the 4.1 engine into his old XP. from what i can gather, if this is the case you might have some issues fitting the engine in, as for the wiring etc, it shouldnt be a problem as all you will need would be the original wires for the starter motor, and the wiring for the coil, that side of things shouldnt be an issue.

might be easier to get yourself a windsor as im pretty sure they just bolt in!

Who really knows? Neither the heading or post makes sense? It clearly states he wants to transplant an engine into the XE wagon, but the heading states swapping engine into an XP?

Hmm "steele87" still hasn't replied to the reply posts, I am starting to think drugs, alcohol (Disco's good at this) or mentally disturbed (again Disco is good at this  )
