Hi guys, i have kept the bottom end of the EL ghia motor and all the accessories so i can change to the serpentine belt set up. Wanting to research this first, i want to know if this can be done while keeping the log manifold? I have read that you need an XH belt tensioner to do this to clear the log manifold. Anyone have a part number for this if this is the case??

Who has done this conversion with out changing to a BBM? And was there any issues clearing anything??

Thanks.

It can be done, and you dont necessarily need the XH tensioner. What i discovered when i did mine is the AC is the issue. If you use the stock ED mounts and cut the EF/EL spacers in half the belt clears the TB and the AC clears the TB, but i preferred to us the EF/EL AC mount and as such needed to do the BBM as well. I figured that while it was mostly appart, may as well do the BBm as well. My BBM isn't working correctley yet due to some vacuum fittings i need to sort, but outher than that it works well.

The link abouve is my conversion, and includes the doco on how to do it without changing to a BBM.

Cheers
Brett

will cutting the spacers make the belt too long??

i have read through your post many times before.... why did you use an EF radiator? Can i not use the eb one?

is there anythign else i should look out for??

do you have have to adjust the timing after??

Thanks again.

I used the EF radiator,as the outlet for the water pump is different, and it was easier this way, you could step it down with a pipe, but less joins is less chance for a leak.

PM me your email and i will send the doc, Its too big for fordmods to upload as an attachment, and i am currently on slow speeds.

Brett

easy way is to just use the ef compressor on the ed mounts with the xh tentioner. if the tentioner is all you need to buy then it will only cost you 150ish for the conversion plus a belt.

a little tip tho is to make sure its different i had to order a panal van tentioner and belt as the ute was wrong. maby the shop but idk...

i would have thought tensioner between XH panel van and ute would be same, XR's are different to standard but the same as EF tensioner as they were realeases with BBM... possibley shop mistake
