If only the engine was still in the car as you could use a breaker bar and lock the handle in on the right side then crank the engine to undo it.

Beware of this!!!!

I have done it too a few engines, but the last 2 i did this on just f**k the starters instead! And left the bolt tight.

I have done about 20 this way and never had a problem.
I undid 2 last week on engines that were out of cars, 1 had spark plugs out of it.
Put the breaker bar n socket on and hit it with a heavy hammer.

when the VN comm balancer bolts use to seize up, we had a oxy torch with a cutting tip and heat up the centre of the head only, when it got red u could undo the bolt easily with a breaker bar, this worked hundreds of times, but u must replace the balancer bolt as the heat softens it

Somebody must have left my harmonic balance bolt loose. I just jerked it up with the breaking bar, twice and it loosened, I might mention that I'm 140kg. Probly helped.

Kingchrome Ratchet a footpower!! got the bastard off. the I6 is SOO much easier to work on when its on a pallet!

Not gonna buy a 12v rattle gun just to do a few bolts.. the idea is to get dirty and crack a sweet, not fall back on tools to make it easier.

Yea but it has other uses, I use it to change tyres when at the track. It lives in the Red car now due to different sized rims and 2 spares

if engine is out of car, and flywheel still in place, remove starter motor, place a large flat blade screwdriver into the flywheel gear to stop it (engine) turning, get somebody to hold it, and then undo balancer bolt using large extension on breaker bar.

Works every time 8-)
