Thought i'd post here because I just saw this this morning on the run up the F3. Northbound, near the twin servos near Warnervale there are signs warning of aerial speed detection and white lines painted on the road. I'd seen the lines there before but this was the first time i'd seen the sign so they might actually be up doing their thing now.
Just a warning for those who frequent that stretch of road. P.S. Anyone know the tolerances on this form of speed detection? |

Nah, couldn"t be. It'd cost way to much, I reckon they might go up once every couple of weeks or perhaps they wont bother at all and will just hope the threat keeps people under the limit.

I have driven through there before not always smack on the limit and ive been fine.
Id like to know the tolerance of those safety cameras. Yesterday minding my own business i drove through one doing around 75 in a 70 zone. Im a bit worried. Totally forgot about it.

Typically in NSW you get whats called a 10% meter adjust. So Providing your speedo is 100% accurate ALL of the time, theoretically you can do 110km'h in a 100km/h zone and run the gauntlet on getting away with it.
BUT our speedos are not accurate, if you low or high you need to compensate. BUT knowing what way to compensate is the hard part. Rule of thumb, new cars are reading a touch low, but start screwing with wheels and tyres, and that theory goes out the window. On Monday, I went down to Yass, saw the same thing on the road south too. CBF if I can remember where exactly it was, but I think just south of Goulburn. Saw the plane in the sky too, low altitude, slow f**k. so they can track it all well. My understanding is, they look, onboard computuers calculate your average speed over set distance, this gets radio'd to ground patrol cars who do the rest. Think about it, how are they gonna get your plate info from up in the sky? they will be looking straight down on you.

They have put white lines across the M4 from Mamre Rd-The Northern Rd and the ICY weather condition sign has had the SPEED detection sign stuck on.

I often drive from Sydney to the Warnervale exit, and I swear it took me ages to work out what the lines were for! Then I caught a glimpse of the sign. But it would be a seriously expensive thing to do so I can't imagine how often they'd do it! I've never seen them at any rate, and I make my way up there once a week or so.
