i have a ef11 xr and am going to replace all bushes, but before doing so ,is there improvements to the ef rear susp.
i have read el's have better package through upper contol arm mounting points etc.also read that efxr's and elxr's are both 340cm long ,my efxr's only 320cm. so can a 340 el be fitted to a ef (would new hole need to be drilled or not)and would it make much differance to handling? or should it be 340cm long ? anyone got any ideas on resonably priced mods for rear before i purchase bushes etc ? |

That doesn't seem right. 340cm is 3.4 metres, almost as long as the car???

Well i had a wrecked EF XR6 and it had 320mm upper arms with mounting brackets in the spots where the arms usually go and they were on an angle. To fit the normal 340mm arms (EL/ED) you remove the brackets and it's the same. From what i've read i thought only non-tickford els had the 320mm arms but seeing as yours had some too i'm not so sure. It's also worth checking if you have the 20mm lowered diff hat/cover, my ef didn't but they're meant too. I'm also pretty sure he meant mm...

the only differences i know are that the el/au diff has three mounting holes for the top trailing arms, and the ef only has one. When i changed the diff in my el with the diff from an ef, i had to aquire the ef arms that where 340mm aprox. The el arms that i had were too short and put too tight a pinion angle on and caused the car to vibrate
oh and i think the watts linkage is mounted a bit lower on the el diff compared to the ef, but im not too sure wade

sorry guys ,340mm
as far as i know the el has two mounting holes,is one for 320 and the other for 340 ? therefore to fit 340 do i need a new mounting hole, but saying that nolathane has a upper arm at 340(46900a,ahd)to fit ef ,so if i buy those do they bolt staight on ? anybody fitted these ? |

The 340mm bolt on if you remove the bracket on the body, where the upper arm bolts into. For better handling , it's best to use the lower mounting point on the diff like on ED/EL. But its a bit hard to know where to drill on the ef diff to make the bolt hole unless you have another diff to copy the holes off.

You need the el diff which im pretty sure has 3 mounting holes, if you have an ef xr6 the upper trailing arms are the same as the el xr6 upper trailing arms, If i recall correctly the tickford arms are the shorter ones with the kinked ends to clear the diff. The watts link mounting point is lower on an el diff hat for better handling. |

the rear sway bar bushes and mounting saddle change between ef and el and yes you can direct swap aslong as you have the saddles.
i have this upgrade on my ef the sway bars are the same run the upper arms the same as your diff you wont even be able to bolt it up it will hit your springs . the upper bushes are exactly the same and in nolathane can be removed and reinstalled really easy |
