i was under the impression you want the turbo to retain as much heat as possible.

Maybo some heat like a car but, why woul u want a turbo to run mega hot?

because you want to limit the loss of energy from the exhaust gases through heat dissipation. or something. the more heat you can keep in it, the more energy stays in the exhaust gases.

Thanks dude i didnt no

I no they can run upwards of 750 degrees celcius, but i also no that there not invincible.....warm for the oils sake but Hot....that would blow the turbo, flanges and not only that the heat it would produce under the hood would be enormus it would have to cause damage

The reason a turbo runs hot is they are using exhaust gases already at 600°C+. A turbo will run red hot when driven extremely hard. It is not good to trap excess heat in the turbo, but you have to try and keep underbonnet temps as low as possible, It's a trade off.
