Hey guys i just had my au converted to gas (dual Fuel)
I drove home from the gas place and filled the tank completely. I drove home from the petrol station and could smell a bit of gas in the car, i didnt think much of it because i thought it must have gotten on my fingers or something while filling it up. At home i was looking at all the new parts and i opend up the filler cap and noticed a slight clicking noise (very faint) when the car was off. well any way now i can smell a slight amount of gas in the car when i get in it and when i drive it. A retested tank was installed, could this be the source of the smell ?? a smelly old tank ?? Its really worrying Do you guys ever smell gas ? Thank you |

Only when i eat prunes
But if you want to find the possible leak before taking it back to the workshop that fitted it, get a spray bottle and fill it with soapy water and spray it around the connections. Any leaks will cause bubbles to form. That's what the LPG installer should have done when they've finished installing it and have pressurised it before giving it back to you.

Points to look for this leakage would be the lock off valve on the gas tank, under the inspection cover & the lock off at the converter end of the fuel line. Shouldn't be hard to spot. Last time i had a leak, was when i swapped the gas tank in my Xr8 with a tank that is in test, the lock off on the new tank was leaking, rubber grommet in the bottom of it had cracked. I looked there & found it frosting/icing up, when the engine stalled & wouldn't start on LPG again. Cheers ToranaGuy
