The only people that think SUs are hard to tune are people that don't know what they are doing.

They are quite easy to tune. Time consuming to find the right needle but in no way is hard to do.

Good air filters help too, as crap likes to get stuck in there and make the slides stick.

Until you take it for a drive, then they need to be re tuned again. Good British design. Enough said.

The only thing that ever needs maintenance on them is making sure the oil level is right, even that only needs checking every 3 months or so.
Other then that everything els is set and forget. needles, jets and piston springs will not magically change. Unless the choke mechanism sticks, but again comes down to being setup right, which means you need to know what you are doing.

I do quite a few MGs and minis with twin SUs and they all start with in 3 crank rotations and all drive smoothly. But then i know what i'm doing.
