Has anybody experimented with pneumatics or hydraulics for things like sliding panels, cd players, etc.? If so, do you know of any online references to check or any info you could give me? Thanks for any help.

well i want to make a small draw sort of thing that slides out when i hit a switch and i thought that low pressure hydraulics or something could work.

Personaly a full blown hydraulic cup holder would be ever so slight overkill!
Maybe you could use an old CD drive? But when you say small, how big/small are we talking here?

"Hey check this out" "f**k! my fingers!!" nah, they are load limited, you could put a fuse/breaker in there to limit it even more too. if it's only to move something small you could do it with a solenoid or servo. hydraulics/pneumatics is waaaay over complicating it. what is this for, like an amp drawer or something?

yeah amp drawer not really small...
how about an electric motor with a gear and a rack, that'd be more compact then a linear actuator. theres gonna be a fair bit of fab work involved in what you are wanting to do...

could you use the setup out of electric windows (motor and rail)? and mount it under the tray hook it up with the same window switch as in your car and it will match in aswell
