Yea so I went to the mechanics today because my cars front end was making some god aweful noise and lunging everywhere and half breaking.
A few hours I get a call back. Need both wheel bearings replaced. One was missing the cap.
And the bearing completly colapsed and somehow welded itself to the stub axle.
Does this sound like a c&*t of a job for them or what haha.
Im gonna be so broke tomorro.
Just thought id share.

Anyway. 2 new wheel bearings, 1 new stub axle 1 new rotor and $509 later im back on the road and driving nicer then ever.

And she even stopped pinging.
Could the pinging be somehow related to the stuffer bearing and sticking breaks?
Extra load for the engine or something?

actually had this happen to mine aswell, but got it off with a little bit of help from a screw driver. No damage to anypark of the arm or anything just one really stuffed bearing case. "note to self"do not allow pedders to work on car EVER!!!

I've had a front wheel bearing fail not long after replacement in my mighty boy, scary stuff that was. Turned out to be a faulty bearing. They are sealed bearings, unlike what the E series falcon run.

On my little 6x4 trailer, when i got it the bearings were almost welded onto the stub axle. I cut a small groove into the bearing with a dremel, then hit the groove with a cold chisel, and broke the bearings off, fit some new ones & it's good as gold again.

If they replaced the stub axle, they either couldn't be bothered trying to remove the bearing or it was so bad that it damaged the stub axle. How much labor was in the price, cause $509 sounds a bit pricey for 2 wheel bearings, 1 rotor & 1 stub axle, to supply & fit.

Cheers

ToranaGuy
