hey rich
i have had this happen to me a number of times and let me tell you it an absolute bugger to chage as you pretty much have to dismantle the whole cente console, but leave the T-bar on and raise it just enough to squeeze your hand in to get to the little s**t globe. Unless its really bugging you i would advise you against trying but there may be another method of doing this that im not aware of.
As for the globe behind the climate indicator you just take of the whole front dash so that you can access the screw for the climate unit which have to be undone so that the globe can be retrieved from behind. Although this job is rather straight forward it does take some time and patience.

hope this info help mate

that is a piss easy job 10 mins tops!6 bolts and 1 phillips head screw!
10mm i think
2 bolts under the front area ( under ash tray )
2 bolts under the cup holder mat
2 bolts, 1 either side of the storage bin
the phillps screw is for the t bar and it will slid off

move the front seats forward then lift and pull the centre console out :) piss easy
