I currently have a xb falcon which i am going to do up.
I have a option of buying a 94 fairlane with fuel injected v8 . Has anyone installed one of these motors and it's running gear into a xb or similiar. Just wondering if there are any major mods that have to be done . Any info would be greatly appreciated. |

Just make sure you get the engine, trans and the entire wiring harness and ECU.
Go to {DESCRIPTION} and read everything, it will be a big help. If you can afford it, the Ford Motorsport harness is the easiest way, not cheap though... Good luck.

Looks like there is a fair bit of info on there.
I will be getting the whole car so i will have all the parts available. I was thinking of how physically the engine and gearbox would fit in the xb , and if the diff would be a problem to fit. |

The engine will bolt straight in - just fit a set of mounts from a clevo onto the windsor. Sump is OK.
You will need to get new extractors, or use the stupid standard headers. Gearbox will fit the tunnel, but you will need to extend the rear gearbox mount back a bit to suit. The diff wont fit - totally different brackets. If you get the brackets changed, or get a wagon/ute diff, your all set. You will probably need a custom tailshaft, but thats not a biggy. You will need to fit a return line to the fuel tank - i used the original old line as the return, and fitted an E-series line for the supply, along with the filter and mount. You could either fit the e-series fuel tank - ugly, or have the XB tank modified to fit the e-series pump, or run a commonwhore style inline pump. Enjoy.

Just about everything that applies here also applies to your XB. You should also seriously consider the 351 route though
ford-v8-f2/351w-into-xe-ute-t9411.html btw we used an EA-up wagon fuel tank in an XA superbird EFI 351w conversion. This is an easy way to get an intank pump setup, just be sure if you get an EA CFI tank, to change the pump to an MPI type. You just need to make some small filler panels as the tank is not quite the same size. Cheers, Pete. |

I've wondered about an E-series wagon tank in an XR - XC falcon. They look like a similar size and mounting system. Any pics of this.....

No pics sooty, It does fit very easy though. I can't remember what we did for the fuel sender scaling either. It wasn't difficult in that area either I'm pretty sure.

Thanks for all the info.
Picked up a 94 fairlane ghia 5 litre V8 this morning for $300 . Got all the gear there now for a swap over into the xb. Motor has a bit of a tappet noise, but i will be rebuilding it any way. Any ideas on price to rebuild a 5 litre . Probably like to get 250kw-300kw out of it if that's possible. |

That's a good pickup for that price man! What a score!
For that sort of power, probably easiest to go forced induction, unless that isn't your thing. A stock rebuild shouldn't cost a bomb if you can do the assembly yourself. Cheers ToranaGuy
