I've had a bit of a look around using search but can't quiet understand how to fix this problem, the coolant light is staying on. it stays off sometimes when i first start my car up then after a few mins its on, its not empty or low i just cant seem to get the damn light to switch of, help???

the coolant level switch is the one with the red and black wires coming out of the coolant bottle on the right hand side (looking from front of car)
and then there is a connector about 40cm down if you follow those above two wires

quite ofter the coolant resevoir can have gunk and build up around the sensor, preventing it to close and ulimately shut the light off.
Try taking the sensor our and inspecting it, might just need a good clean.if it continues to get build up in there u might need to clean the whole resevoir out...theres a tech doco showing best ways to do this. Alternatively the sensor might be shagged and needs replacing |

just had a read of some of the doco's, big big help! thanks guys, i'll give a good tidy up and check the sensors,

Most likely the plastic float has deteriorated and has filled with water. It's a common problem with them.
Easiest ways to fix are:- 1. Remove globe from dash; 2. Unplug and wire in a resistor to make it look like the coolant is full; and 3. replace the coolant level sensor. |
