I just bought a BA XR6 over the weekend, i have a picture that has no reference to the question im about to ask but i thought you may like to see it! (yes its the BA that was on ebay)

ANYWAY how do i find out if it has an LSD? the a** swings out a little when i give it out of a corner but nothing like my eb xr6, so i wasnt sure. I am wondering if it should say anything on the plates or in the log books, or if there is a sticker like the older models some where on the diff?..

thanks!

there will be a yellow tag on the bottom of the diff with the ratio and weather its lsd or not written on it

Only Turbo's, XR8's and FPVs got LSDs standard, other than that they were optional on the n/a's and most likely you don't have one.

As mentioned, there's a tag n the diff itself.

You could jack up the rear end and spin a wheel, if the other goes the same way it's a LSD.

Burnouts' 11's for the win.

yea just jack up the back an hav a look under it. i think on the drivers side theres a little tag that will say the ratio in big numbers then under that in smaller writing either LSD or standard diff. standard being open center.

i was also wondering if anyone else knew how to tell wether its a m78 or m86 as mine doesnt specify either way it just has som seriel numbers on it.

or just jack up both rear wheels and spin one tyre...if both tyres spin in the same direction you have LSD if one tyre spins one way and the other tyre spins the other way you dont have LSD

i had to order LSD in my ute from new coz the XR6 n/a didnt come with it. turbo and 8s did

sorry dat_mine i just read your post

They of course can only tell you how it was built, won't help if it was changed by a previous owner. But yeah they're a great source of getting accurate info.
