The passenger side power window keeps sticking about half way. I have taken the door trim off..... When lifting the window up it slows then stops at half way, I then got to pull it up with my fingers for it to continue all the way up...... Thank god it wasn't raing the night it happened to me.
I have checked the mechanism in the door - glass move slightly forward and backward, but only noticeable when u press "up and down" a few times..... Someone mentioned to me that i need to lube up the rubbers, etc.... Help?

silicone spray/graphite powder from memory - best things to use. your regulator could be stuffed though, which would mean it'd have to be replaced either way!

With the window up locate the 2 bolts that connect the glass to the mech.
Hold glass so it does not go down and see if the mech operates ok without the glass. If yes then put mech to the lowest point and slide glass up/down to locate sticking point. Check that the slide rubbers are sitting correctly and that nothing is blocking the travel of the glass. Lubricate channels with silicon spray or graphite powder. If of course the mech hangs up without the glass, remove it and check the unit out, if no obvious probs then replace it. Hope this helps. cheers \ Clive

I have a similar problem with my EF that annoys me to no end!
Mine goes about half way up and then stops slowly...i then have to grab the glass and pull it toward the rear of the car...just slightly and it will complete its way up no probs... Are there any bolts that could be out of align in this situation or maybe just try the silicon spray? Excuse me for my ignorance but does the spray go on the inside of the window seals? Tim

As I described in my other post above the 2 bolts that hold the glass to the mech. Loosen them and slide glass to the rear whilst hold it there tighten bolts. With some experimentation you can get the best results.
Yes the lube goes into the channel the glass slides in.

Same thing with my fronts.
Yep grab a can of silicone spray from Jaycar or wherever, one with the plastic tube extension you stick on the nozzle. Then wind down the window and spray the silicone in the rubber channels the windows wind up.. Then just wind 'em up and down once or twice then give another quick squirt up the channels, up and down a couple of times and that should fix 80% of wind up problems..

I'm not thread mining, i used the search function but need some more info
my old man has an ef futura that seems to be having this problem. he is in qld and i'm in adelaide so i can't help him out. does anyone have any pics (preferably detailed) as to what he should be looking at. I'm assuming from his description of the problem to me that he is having the same trouble. if he only winds window halfway down it is fine going back up but if it is wound all the way it will struggle to come up without any help. once up about halfway it needs to be pushed back toward b pillar and then its fine. if the above solutions don't fix the problem, is there any other issues that could be causing this. needs window fixed to get roadworthy so he can sell it. thanks guys

Unfortunately, lubing the channels won't fix everything, and it is usually a short term fix.
The only thing I can recommend that for long term that has worked well for me is elongate the two window mounting holes on the power window slding bracket. This may mean removing the assembly (yeah drill rivets) to do this properly, but it does give you decent adjustment of the window in the channels.

mine was slowing down i elongated the holes on the mount on the winder mech to window glass holder
the hole facing the doorjam elongated up and one facing rear downwards a little then moved the slack twisting clockwise on the reg bracket till slack was out do it up works better with near to no slack winds up fine |

graphite powder will work best i think from memory
Had the same thing happen in my el xr6, however before purchase, the previous owner had a new actuator put in for roadworthy. Not sure how much it would cost though. Hope i helped |
