IMO Felpro are great quality. Even their stock replacement gaskets take a lot of abuse.

I haven't bought a Felpro Cleveland gasket set in years, I hope they still have the rubber tappet cover gaskets, those were the best, far better than those cork crap ones, including the cork/rubber? mix

FIBRE in sydney are the direct supplier for felpro. When i did my inlet manifold ford wanted 80 per bank and fibre did the whole lot for 32.50. They are great and Felpro are awesome gaskets

come again?!!! i think for time being standard headgaskets should be fine. the car wont be seeing boost until next year, this years funds are going on building the engine/ respraying the fairmont. (its hard to find cash being at uni full time/ working parttime pooring beer!) The reason i ask about rear seals as i have heard the rubber ones are a lot better then the old school rope seals?

Gaskets are only as good as the prepration done before you put them on.
Cleanliness is next to godlyness. I have even reused a set of head gaskets. The clevo kits used to have the rubber rear main seal with the ford part noumber onit. Painting the cork gaskets the day befor you put them on also helps stop oil soak into the cork. |

interesting, you say paint? do you mean just put a light coat of engine enamel on it? When i start putting the engine together it will be sitting for a while in its completed state until the body is painted, so hopefully they will set them selves in over time.

Yeah just a good coat of paint you are sealing the cork. Is the engine going to be on a stand or sitting on the floor. If it's on the floor try to take the weight off the sump by using the engine mounting points.

felpro are good gaskets, and the felpro "wires" are even better. maybe get your block o ringed now, save you doing it later.
