hey need some help on how to run a ef xr motor in a ea ucing the ef ecu. ive looked a bit but alls ive seen is people say go to el ecu. i just wanted to no whats got to be done to get ef ecu to work.

You will need to run the EF engine bay wiring as it was wired differently as the EF ecu has a 104pin connector.

Any reason why you want to use an EF ECU? The wiring in the EA is already compatible with the EL ECU, bar a few missing wires for the BBM vacuum switch & thermofans.
BenJ & Troyman have some writeups & photos showing how they installed EL motors, as well as a number of other members.

so if i replace coil pack with the distributor off my ea and run the el ecu would that work? with out much work?

Otherwise, if you're planning to mod the engine, an auto ECU & J3 with an ELXR6 tune. You can disable Smartlock using the J3 as well.

So can you run an elxr6 engine in an ef just by pluging up and using the engine bay loom and computer of an elxr6?
