welcome to the site mate.

theres a sticky on oil in the 6 cyl forum on here.

I think synthetics are a little better but a fair more expensive? if in doubt, what ever the manual in the car specs will be more than fine. there might be a thing on the cap or a label in the bay somewhere too

My au uses 10w30 I dunno about ba's. I use nulon oil in my car. Most oil containers come in 5 litres but falcons using 5.5 litres nulon makes a 6ltr container for the falcon. Iv been using it in my au for almost 100,000ks and no trouble.

Hope it helps.

Iv read a few threads and each car seems to take different amount of oil. The book says 5.5 so I put that in and after I start the car so fill the oil filter it reads exactly full.
I serviced it today so its fresh in memory :p

yeah some model falcons have different levels as the dip sticks tubes are not fitted correctly... we used to years ago when i was at ford fill up the engine with the right amount of oil .run car to get oil in the filter then check the level ....if the level was to low we used to get a hammer and hit the dip stick tube down till we got the right level on the stick this was from EB to EL, then i left Ford, i still wondered if they ever fixed them

Well there is the inside scoop. Makes sense, mine is right so maybe someone showed some common sense and followed your lead.
