Reason I was running thicker oil anyway is because my rings are a bit shagged and if I run too thin it uses too much oil. I bet the lifter doing it is the 'non-genuine' repco one anyway. The rest of them are original ford ones - I accidently ran over one of my lifters with a car when doing the cam install lol - needless to say it needed replacing. PMSL How'd ya run over a lifter with doing your cam change? .. can not running when ya doing a cam change!? Start saving for a motor dude |

Oh I dropped the lifter under the car and couldn't see it under there, so we pushed the car backwards a bit to get some more light and there it was right where the front left tyre had been lol...

Since thought about it...we started using penrite but the ticking was terrible then swapped to mobil 1 fully synthetic and didn't hear another tick or knock!

Around 140000k's. The only reason we changed to that was because we took it in for a service and supplyed them with the penrite but when we got it back it was knocking and ticking more than when we put it in. So after complaining about it the guy offered to drop the oil and put the mobil 1 in that he used for his race car...what a major difference, it does cost a fair bit but well worth it - the car run rather sweet after that.

Funny thing is with my Lifter/Lash adjuster noise problem is it stops and is dead quite just after about 10 seconds of idling early in the morning. Then I go for a drive and then I hear it after I stop and then I put it in to "Park". It isn't as noisy in "Drive" either

I'm currently running HPR30 and it just ticks for a bit on start and goes away. The next change i might run HPR15 because of the cold winter temps.
BTW the cars done 295,XXX kms. |

im on hpr40 i think? lol
bottom end is going .. lifters are hell noisey! anything thinner i loose to much oil pressure! new block will be happenin soon i fink? hope? lol |

BTW the cars done 295,XXX kms. Well I hope what happened to me doesn't happen to you. Funny thing is with the HPR30 the tick that went away after 10 seconds or so wasa really loud one - well that's completely gone now. The tick that I get now is much quieter but does not go away at all. |

OMG, it wasn't a lifter at all. Infact the all the lifters are 100% tick free even from cold now.
Don't know why it popped up after an oil change but it was something to do with the clutch/gearbox. As soon as I put in the clutch it went away |

Looks like the clutch fork is vibrating on the bellhousing slightly or something...
