Anyone running an EMS ecu with an EF motor that can confirm the ignition setup.
Depending where I look, I find conflicting info. The base setup in the EMS Ford 4l file has the "trigger sensor" as Hall (Rising+) and the sync as Mag. Number of tooth per cylinder as "one tooth per cyl" static timing tooth as none. However, isn't the "trigger" the crank sensor which is Magnetic? and the sync being the cam angle sensor as Hall? Searching found some info from the EMS forum: "It has a stock EF balancer with tone wheel on it and a stock EF sync sensor. The crank wheel is 36 tooth with 1 missing and the static timing tooth turned out to be the 5th after the missing tooth (counting the first as 0) for 10deg BTDC base timing. Setting up the sync sensor, I discovered that however many deg BTDC you set it is the maximum amount of ignition timing you'll be able to add when tuning. So we set it up at about 50deg BTDC. The sync is really only to tell the EMS that TDC is coming around, all the timing is calculated off the crank as far as I understand it." Just checked the old balancer, it is a 36 tooth, one missing, and I'm pretty sure it is a mag sensor.

{USERNAME} wrote: i just posted something in your throttle boddy thread.. your base timing should be around 10 deg to start.. once its running you set it to locked and put a timing light on it and it will tell you what your sensor is set at.. if its around 10 deg on the balancer in the locked position, set the base timing at 10 deg, then your timing map will chang the timing as rpm and load changes in the map... |
