Hey Guys,
Just wondering how hard it would be to pull the heads off a BA 5.4L 3V motor. Ive pulled apart commodore 3.8L motors before, but they are piss easy cus they got push rods. Where as the ford motors are overhead cams, so you have to put the cam back in the exact position it was before and all this VCT Phaser crap that attached to it all, just dont wanna put valves through pistons.

Suggestion: Go buy a Factory Ford Workshop Manual or similar for the BA, all the manual's explain everything on how to remove the heads

Pulling them off is easy putting them back on is harder. I don't think cam timing is that hard on these things you just have to line up marks on the sprockets with coloured chain links.

I used to pull one or two of these apart every day,[Ford Warranty] Pulling apart is not hard but unless you have some special tools, putting it back together is a whole new ball game I would not recommend it as a Saturday arvo job. If you are uncertain leave it alone! Regards TPVM.

Why do you want to pull it apart for?
Is it just for headgaskets or do you want to rebuild the heads?
