Ok this morning i went to fill up as the fuel light had been on for atleast the past few days now and the fuel gauge wasn't too far off from saying there was no fuel left. I went to the safeway/caltex and filled up with just the standard 91ron and filled it full. But when i checked the receipt it said that only 53 litres went in...If thats the case why was the fuel light still on because that makes 15litres still left in the tank doesnt it? The trip computer still said that i had 50km till the tank was empty but the last fill i did was Caltex premium 95RON and that i average 14.8L per 100km. Is a sensor starting to play up? I thought the light only goes on when there is approx "less than" 10L left as stated in the owners manual.

maybe there was a bit of air in the tank or the gauge is slightly under. On my BA the fuel light comes on just below a quarter tank and beeps with 80 kays to go. On the other hand a friend of mine who has a BF has had his distance to empty showing 0 and we still were driving the car to get some fuel.

Sometimes it can be the pump at the station. Couple of times now I have run mine really low and then gone to fill up (co-incidently both times at a Mobil station) knowing full well it should take 60+ litres, but has only taken in 54-55.
I just figured it was something wrong with thier pumps mis-interpreting when the tank is full. I wouldn't worry about it unless it continues at other petrol stations.

well i've got an ED xr6 wagon and as far as I know the tank is 75L, other week I ran it to near empty(but not completely cos it still drove fine to the petrol station) and managed to fill 73.5L...as if it could actually take that much...

I've put 71 litres in my car from multiple petrol stations, when the trip computer says around 40k's left. Pretty good for a 68 litre tank .

You haven't taken into fact for the filler tube. They can hold a fair bit of fuel too. Hence the 71L from a 68L tank.

Years ago a mate of mine put 21lt into a 19lt tank on his bike, and he wasn't on reserve yet either......questioned the console operator.......they didn't know......doesn't have a " filler neck ". Its a 99 Kawasaki ZX9R.
