Whilst Ive got the ute off the road I was looking at doing a port & polish on the head while shes all apart. Can anyone point me in the right direction or even a DIY way of going about it?? Also plans are a 1636 or higher cam in the future.
Also would it be any gain by getting the AU head gasket or just a stocky?? Also will be running on 95 or higher fuel at all time. I was looking at selling it for an eight but theres so much fun to be had with a six. LOL. All help and opinions appreciated, Justin

Theres alot of info on the heads on here, heres a pretty good link http://autospeed.com/cms/A_109232/article.html
But long story short take it to someone who deals with this sort of thing, find out if anyone in your area does heads for stockcars/racing type Ford I6's they'll sort it out. |

Definitely worth getting the head tickled a bit while it's off i reckon, even more so if you are thinking about future mods like a cam upgrade. Yes, use an AU MLS gasket when the head goes back on.
As said, it's best to take it somewhere that specializes in that sort of thing. Joe at CMS does some good head and cam packages, which may be a better option for you. That way you could get a ported head with a cam to suit and chuck it together in one go, that should liven the ute up a fair bit You could go DIY on the head work, but you have to know what you are doing because it's too easy to wreck a perfectly good head. There are a few threads on here about porting that spring to mind, it's a lot of reading, but if you are into that sort of thing, it's very useful information.. ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/your-diy-porting-bible-t82450.html?hilit=porting%20bible ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/your-diy-porting-bible-t82450.html?hilit=porting%20bible |

Get your hands on some warped/cracked heads first....as many as you can get your hands on.
