What headunit do you have what sort of rca's do you have move the trigger to the other side of the car , make sure there are no powered wires near the rca's
were the rca rolled up due to being to long |

80% of the time engine noise is found when there is a power wire of any sort near the rca's or speaker wire, and if you have a bad ground! what have you grounded to?

i have the earth bolted to the rear seat bolt and the power wire that came with the rca's is joined to the rca's but i have run a seperate one but its also running down the same side so it may be that?
my head unit is a pioneer,part number DEH-P6050UB |

Try a new ground to bare metal.
Being a pioneer a common problem is blowing the little internal fuse by connecting RCA's while the head unit is turned on. If this is the case it will need to be sent away for repairs or you can ground the RCA's at the rear of the head unit. Not a perfect fix but it does the job if you dont want to send it away.
