Howdy y'all, i finished work at midday yesterday and here it was i made:

File those edges smooth and you are away. I bought a metre of 90mm pvc downpipe, $5.xx from Bunnings, 45 and 22.5 degree bends (like $1.50 each), plumbers pvc glue (smallest bottle) Then i removed the pop in/pop out panel where the fog light might go if you ever wanted to fit a pair then sized up the pcv pipe through that hole and cut out the back to fit the pipe snugly. Get the bends, fit one onto the end of a 350mm 90mm pcv section you cut off, keep the cuts you make straight. From memory i first fitted the 22.5degree bend and then immediately the 45degree bend. With a piece of pipe falling through the hole this was easy enough to line up! I had to cable tie a bunch of cables running through black corrugated conduit to what looked like hydraulic brake lines, fit a cable tie, then tie off so its secured to the side to make way for your pipe! Once i had found i had fitted them together neatly, i pushed them together lightly and marked on each pipe a line with a letter such as 'A' one the first join (both sides of the pipe), then 'B' on the next join etc, so when i took it all out to glue up - i could get a perfect fit. Now i could see i would not be able to glue it all together then fit it up easily, so i joined the straight coming through the front bar to the first bend, then the second bend to the final straight. Then connected the two bends using 100mile an hour tape (material tape). I placed the airbox above the pcv pipe and jigsawed out a hole for it to fit. Put it all together, drilled two holes on the inside of the front bar and one on the pipe, then secured the pipe to the bar with two cable ties, screwed the airbox back in, sprayed it all black. All done, leave it a while to dry as the oil based spray paint takes 12hours to dry properly, an hour worked for me. Im aiming for 1-2psi boost at highway speeds-full throttle, that would be nice but i suspect i will need a sealed airbox to pull any actual boost from the 'air-ram' effect. Horrid pics, its dark, its wet, its dirty, its not finished, but have a look-see. For less then $9 i have a spastically large CAI. Im very pleased with how it turned out, seems a bit more responsive. Fuel comsumption is up only because ive been driving a little quicker lately, like most mods! Driving normally my fuel consumption has not changed! Seems to spin up ALOT easier, even from a stand still, revs more freely. It was cheap, gave me something to do for 90mins and looks ok. Next mod is the BA intake piping mod seen at Autospeed here: http://autospeed.com/cms/title_Negative-Boost-Revisited-Part-5/A_107828/article.html the CAI pickup, the much bigger BA intake piping to the throttlebody, a sealed airbox blocking off the standard snorkel - Should see some boost when i fit up a boost gauge. While I like the idea of the large CAI, could this be achieved without drilling a dirty big hole in your chassis?

Good mod i reckon . I did this on my EF Fairmont, but with 3" ducting as space is fairly limited with the ABS unit right there under the guard.
Even though they say you won't really pick up much air due to the location of the fog/cornering light hole, it does make a noticeable difference, especially on a very cold night or early in the morning. |

I would have put a bellmouth on each end as this also aids airflow..... It mentions this on autospeed also....

I remeber doing the airbox mod in autospeed on my AU Duel Fuel coupled with the XR6T Snorkal and it would die soon as I hit 80+ kays.... it wasnt getting enough gas....
Fixed that tho

A stepper motor is also known as an idle speed motor right?
i presume i can get away with ebaying a new one and fitting it re: the gregories guide. Or do i need a higher flowing one? Cheers

Cheers Mine just wasnt opening enough.... had another one I had spare and that was OK... Its the stepper motor for the LPG which is on the LPG feed from the convertor to the LPG Ring in the intake....
