hey,
Does anyone know how to upholster the seats and door trim them selves? obviously im not about to jump on a fukin sewing machine and get to it, thats what the old girls for. but how would i go about getting the shapes for the seats and that? cant exactly find spare seats lying around for cheap as i dont wana go to a wreckers and pay a s**t load for seats when i only want the shapes of the material. Does anyone have some ideas on how i can do this or not pay mass dollars for it? Cheers, Bone

the best option really is to get some old seats to cut up.
get something with some decent foams (for better bolstering) you should be able to get something decent for little cost, especially if the seats are in crap condition.

if you are to retrim your own seats n get mum to sew them up . best way is to remove the covers of the seats & unpick them . but b4 unpicking them get a white piece of chalk or a chinagraph pencil & draw a line across all stitch lines roughfly center of stitching . . so when you unpick the stitching you are left with a mark on each piece . then use the pieces you unpicked as a patern making sure you also transfer the pencil or chalk marks to the new pieces of cloth or vinal you are using . then when you start to sew them up use the marks you put on as a refrence point and line up your marks b4 sewing . so that way all the pieces are sewn back together in the same position as they were pulled apart . also b4 cuting out new cloth it is also advisable to glue a then layer of foam to the cloth . if your foam in the seat has a split contact cement it back together then glue a piece of canvas over the join to help strengthen the repair . hope this helps n you under stand what i am saying . good luck if you do it .

Thanks blu857,
Thats a big help, im definately going ahead with it, iv picked up some spare dor trims to play around with and am looking at making some 6" or 6x9"s fit in the door instead of 4"s The idea with the chalk is kind of what i had in mind. im probably gonna pick up a spare seat to make sure it all goes smoothly and i can have the original seats just incase it goes a bit south. Toranaguy, I'll have a look at youtube mate, didn't even think to look there, Cheers boys, ill post some pics and a how to when i get my build thread going in The Garage Cheers
