Depends on how much he wants to spend or how fast HE wants you to go. More power means more money! :(

4.9 EF Futura made a shift kit for himself IIRC, cost something like $5. If you're not afraid to cut a few wires then it's a piece of piss.

As for the rest im not too sure, all i know is that you're a very lucky guy to have a dad who'd do this for ya  if my dad was to do any serious work on my car, it'd be a 1.5 litre carby corolla transplant or something... he hates me driving a 4 litre 6 (imagine the look on his face when i tell him im going to get an 8 in a couple of years...)

ahh the innocence of the youth

later model auto's are electronically controlled, earlier ones arent, shift kit=modified valvebody in older auto's

High lift short duration rv camshaft to go with the auto, edelbrock torquer manifold and 600cfm vac secondary Holley carburettor genie or pacemaker extractors Regraphed distributor or mallory unilite (with vacuum advance to get at least Some miles per gallon) Holly mechanical fuel pump. This should do to start. :D :D 8-)
