Strange thing happening with EBII since putting in a new battery,

The battery was replaced because it couldn't even be jump started.

Since the new battery the car starts fine but as soon as the headlights are switched on (fine with just parkers) the car stalls instantly. Also for some reason the temp gauge jumps to the end at hot (and obviously the high temp light comes on). Other strange things are that when its idling the oil press, volts & temp gauge all flicker about 1mm constantly and then with an indicator flick side to side by 1 - 2cm, which is much higher that usual. The other thing to do is that when we rev it to 2000rpm and switch on the headlights it drops to 0rpm and just putts barely so long as the throttle is held in the 2000rpm position, let off slightly and it'll die instantly. Obviously its an electrical issue somewhere...and so long as the headlights are then switched off the car will start fine straight away.

What I've done -
- Cleaned and checked voltage at the terminals and back of alternator (14v - only drops slightly when headlights are switched on)
- Put in an ED ECU (no change at all)
- Checked all fuses under steering (no faults)
- Charged battery all night from a home 240v charger (charger displayed charged this morning)

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Jacob

The last time my car did that it was because the battery terminals were not tight and had a bad connection to the battery although you said you cleaned the battery contacts.
