Hello,
I have installed Alpine Type R splits in my EL Falcon and while doing so broke the spacer. After the vibrations got to me I pulled my trim off to replace the spacer and it seems like the door trim is touching the suspension ring (i think its called that). It still sounds good but should I do something about it?

No, the speakers are 6.5" and the space is 6".
I am using the supplied spacer from alpine that are 5mm thick. should I make my own out of 3mm ply? |

Cut the hole in the door trim larger. Should get you enough clearance... Plus make a thinner spacer for good measure.

The problem may not just be the width of the basket that the speaker fits in. It also might be the depth, they may be so deep that the magnet hits the window when you take that spacer out.
And yes you should do something about it, it can damage the speaker especially on bass beats. As what was said before try and widen the hole out. |

That rubber surround looks pretty bad, you will next to do something soon or else your excursion will suffer.
