My el 8 seems to loose power at wide open throttle!
It will pull right through the rev range as long as its not planted, put the foot down the bit more and you feel the car bog down and not rev so freely. Have replaced all the basics plugs, leads, sensors ect also had the car on a scan tool and everything seems to be fine. Has anyone had a similar problem? or any ideas would be much appreciated Thanks |

What's the timing like? Fuel pressure? Fuel filter been changed recently?
I have a similar issue with my Eb Ghia I6 on LPG. ON petrol it's fine, been scratching my head with this one. Cheers ToranaGuy

Timing is computer controlled and im not sure on fuel pressure how would i check it?
Fuel filter was changed about 6 months ago. |

actually sounds like an open loop issue - fuel is ok as long as ecu is in closed loop?
Done a lot of mods? The ECU can maintain AFRs in closed loop. at WOT the ECU would be going into open loop and not watching AFRs. could be rich or lean. Nigel. |

What you are saying Nigel sounds likley!
Yes I have done a few mods all without a tune. 65mm tb, 75mm maf, 1.7 RR, gt40 intake, extractors & exhaust, underdrives. Think that's the problem? |

Im not a mechanic, - im in IT and very good at Computer fault finding (bad logic).
and yeah - thats exactly what it sounds like. Id be guessing that your ECU is taking care of (learned even) mixtures in closed loop. Looks like your Maps may need to be richened up for closed loop to suit. Time for TI Performance J3 chip? Out of interest - how much of a difference have those mods made for you? - even seat of the pants/gut feeling? Nigel |

you can adjust the timing.
check your tps also and adjust if required. |

Still stating that those are not issues - based solely on the fact that the car is fine until WOT.
This appears more likely to be a fueling error, not a TPS not set right (idle is ok etc). ... the only difference in the car is that at WOT the ECU does not look at the o2 sensors. If the engine is lean or rich it will not correct. When the car is under partial acceleration it does look at o2 sensors, and can fix the mixtures for what your doing Nigel |

Tps is spot on at 0.8-0.9v idle is fine. Inst timing computer controlled apart from the base/idle timing?
@ Nigel have you dealt with T.I before? with the mods so far it has definitely made a massive difference even tho i cant give the car a good squirt. |

i havent dealt with TI before, but I will be - Im putting the 5.0 into my XF. Theyre the first group to do the J3 chip for the right price, with the right backup and open access to information. Everyone else that understood it either charged too much, or Held back on sharing the info.
I havent seen any problems that they have had that anyone else with a J3 doesnt get (mostly connectors not clean when installing) Nigel |

If its not running right at WOT maybe its time for a service on fuel filter.
Have you cleaned the maf, what fuel do you run, is timing set properly... Could be a stretched cable .. Spend a weekend going over the car mate then report back.., going to chips and tunes may even mask the real issue.. Also check for vac leaks, theres the pcv on the back of the manifold that can come loose and suck in extra air that the maf isnt reading.. |

sounds like T.I are the people to deal with.
@ Raptor_xr8 hi, fuel filter is less than 6 months old, maf is new and its run on 98 octane 100% of the time. all vac lines and pcv are fine. Whats the procedure with doing the timing? Thanks for you help so far guys! |
