i am looking to put a xr6 fuel pressure regulator on my new motor but finding them not so common in the wreckers and would rather use something new i looked at some of the aftermarket units on ebay, after looking at a few i cant find enough info to make me swing to buy one. Has anyone brought one and found it to work the same/better? and should i buy a rising rate unit? or a set pressure unit? or are they all the same?

I got one of the last genuine bosch xr6 300kpa reg through repco about 1-2yrs ago. Took 2 wks to source it from S.A. Bosch stopped making them so basically you will need to hunt around to find a new one.
I would only fit one if you fit a XR6 spec ECU with the correct fuel maps for the 300kpa reg. It does make a difference aswell...not much but it is noticeable through midrange. Also from what I have read that it helps with engine idle when fitting after market camshafts.
