Change the BCM and possibly the ignition barrel.
Have those spares here if you want to leave here overnight to be tested or whatever you like.

I may take you up on that Matt when I get it back tomorrow. Main reason I'm considering the Smartlock Bypass is because I don't really need Smartlock with an aftermarket alarm and it'll allow me to have a play with remote start possibilities if I feel the urge...

Replaced BCM.
So far so good. But I've only tried twice. I need to leave it at least 6-8 hours between starts to ensure a good test. Won't know for another couple of days if it's actually worked or if it's just good luck.

Just tried it then. Took about 5 seconds but it did start...

malgooch wrote: how many volts is the starter pulling Stupid question but how do I test that? Just measure battery voltage before and during starting?

Problem is fixed (touch wood) ...
New starter motor has SEEMED to fix it. Two weeks in and it's started every day. Took approximately 2 seconds to start on two occasions which I guess isn't too out of the ordinary... Also sporting some AU injectors now which probably hasn't hurt.
