My beloved ED futura has travelled 340 000km now. How it made it i have no idea especially as its an ex police car. However my dilemma is that now the car has travelled so many ks that the engine is slowly starting to get tired and not to mention head gasket has a slight leak (but silversol fixed that :P). What i want to know is, is it worth doing the head gasket and rebuilding the engine or is it easier to just buy a second hand engine and bolt that in. I haven't got much money so i would be considering the cheapest option

I've read that putting a EL motor in is much easier to do then an EF or AU motor and then i figure that i can put a AU trans in and just change the bell housing?
