i know its probablly been written before but i havent stumbled on the information im looking for just yet
ok so ive got an ef with all the normal mods, 2.5" exhaust, pacemaker extractors, pod filter, modified intake, 3.9 diff ratio, lowered with urathane bushes and whitelins swaybars, exeedy heavy duty clutch, au haed gasket im also running the lumpiest crow cam available without doing a retune and have a set of harder valve springs in. ( sorry i dont know the exact cam thats all i was told by the guy i bought the car off) im interested in replacing the cam and getting something even lumpier (i love rough idles) and good mid range power would be ideal as i dont want to rev the tits out of my motor to get it to boogie, and if it needs a retune to facilitate this then so be it. what cams can you reccomend and what other mods will i need to do to facilitate this?? any help would be much appreciated |

say it is the 549 stage 3. is there any point getting something lumpier and if so what can you reccomend? ill try and find out this weekend what camshaft it is exactly

From memory, I think the 549 is the biggest "off the shelf grind" there is, coz after that is a speedway cam, too big for street use.....big jump from 549 to speedway.....nothing inbetween except for a custom grind.....then you'll need head-work to go with it to get the potenial from the cam.

same with any other lift, duration, LSA. but you gotta find out the specs of a dev 5 first and JMM sleeps with those under his pillow. Dev cams are best kept with complete dev kis as they are designed to work together.
I would suggest contacting CMS about their head and cam packages, and see if he can refer you to someone in Brissy to tune it for you. Or install and tune, depending how capable you are with tools.
