Basically i have a water leak out the rear of the water pump where the heater pipe goes in. The pipe pump and o-ring are 6 months old.
What happened was i removed the tensioner pulley and the serpentine belt to replace the pulley. I rotated the the water pump pulley clockwise by hand a couple of times to see if it was ok. Then i came back out 10mins later and it's started dripping out at a reasonable pace. Yet there was nothing before i touched it. I have no idea whats going on any help would be good...

The o-ring may be stuffed, even if it is 6 months old. You can replace the o-ring again, but this time smear some gasket maker around the o-ring as well...that way you get a better seal.

well i gave the pipe a giggle around, it seems to have stpped the leaking for the minute.
Something else i noticed was the little brass fork the bolts on to the back of the pump was loose. But it doesnt seem to be pressing onto anything since the lip of the heater pipe is much deeper inside the pump. but my dad's au engine doesnt have this fork, or even a bolt hole for it. i assume the fork is meant to press on the lip of the heater pipe, but doesnt appear like it can.

Think i've found the problem. looks like it has the wrong o ring. The pipe was ordered as an ef pipe, yet the o ring fts the old pipe but not this one. Any idea why it's different?

I have the same as the one you currently have on. Had the same O-ring which seemed a little loose. Replaced it with another O-ring and smeared gasket maker around it and it's all good now...give that a shot.
Also make sure it sits straight...if it sits on an angle, it may squash the o-ring to that one side, allowing a small gap to form on the other.
