has anyone had any issuies with changing a auto to a manual with a windsor late model efi 5L?
I want to change one to manual but I'm thinking that once I put a balenced flywheel on, the crank weight on the front harmonic balencer will be out then too? Any help would be good. |

Yes, you need a 50oz imbalance flywheel.

Your cleveland flywheel(which is 28oz in stock form) will have to balanced to 50oz to suit a 5.0 engine. So they'll have to remove weight from the flywheel on the opposite side of the existing counter weight.
The original 5.0 balancer is already 50oz so you don't need to change it. |

I converted an EL Ghia 5.0 to manual and had no problem with the harmonic balancer on the front of the motor. The only drama I had was 10,000km later when the harmonic balancer delaminated Man, when it went my first thought was that the crank or a rod had busted. Here is a pic of my flywheel.

Hi your earLy cLeveLand 14" 164T fLywheeL may not be compatibLe as Late windsor use smaLLer 13"diameter 157T flywheeL, however depends on type beLLhousing you are using. Hope this info is of use as it can be an easiLy overLooked, when doing manuaL conversions I've aLways taken originaL fLexpLate that has been removed and had new fLywheeL baLanced to it. Cheers...
