hey
i was flicking through a old issue of street fords and noticed the 351 winsor powered ED XR8 (have u guys seen this, its sick) anyways, i noticed it had door handles of either an el or ef falcon . . . i was wondering would anyone know if it was possible to put these handles on my XG ute, or any X model ute for that matter ? i really like the shape n look of them i am also chasing a set of mirrors of an XH to put on my XG simply for the fact i like the roundness and the shape of them compared to standard XG ones, so if anyone knows where i can get a cheap set would they let me know please |

im gessing one of two things right now
1) this just isnt possible or 2) no-one has ever tried it so ive decided to look on ebay for a cheap set as there are no white ones at my local wreckers. . . im going to get a cheap[ set and see if in fact it is at all possible i will have to use rear ones as the front drivers side one has the hole for the key, i think it would b wise to use the existing key hole on my XG and put the EL door handles (rear ones) just abopve the existing key holes will be posting progress on this in the near future |

yeah ive been considering doing this also, I have an old XF door sitting there, i was just going to wait untill a handle comes into my hand along with some time. I hear its possible to do though.

yes mate it can be done you need to get the doors of a ef and get get them cut out and get them put them into your doors but dont do it your self get a good panel beater to do it for you i have seen them on a xf and they looked good

i dont understand
so let me get this staright u have to cut them out of an EF or EL door and "weld" them into a hole in your XG or XF XD door (or whatever tcikl;es your fancy) and have it all wleded, cut back and painted????? . . . . . . SH**T thats a big job i was hoping for a small mod here n there and a few screws or whatever to hold it there . . . . i suppose its still worth a try though hey (SH**T) big job!! i hope its not that hard ill keep yous posted |

From what i understand, you would need to form a new piece of sheetmetal to match the current door, then weld it in. The EF doesnt have a crease line in the same position as the XF, so youd have to remove that and fill it in, which would be easier than creating a new piece out of flat stock. Lot of work for an ef, so it would want to be a really nice car to consider it. If everything is kept lubricated, the door is opened softly, the striker bolt and mechanism in the door is tight, and there isnt too much sag, you SHOULDNT have too much trouble snapping handles.

AU/BA ones would be better, they'd sit flush with the door.

Yes it can be done. There is a XF ute up here that has a body kit, spoiler on the roof and a really good custom paint work. It has the ef/el handles fitted. This mod is most often performed because the utes continued to get the crappy XF door handles which break really easily. They can be fitted, you just have to cut a hole and go from there....don't know much else.

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I probably am) but aren't the door handles on the EF/EL the same as that of the AU/BA???

Also, XH, I'm not having a go, but if my V8 posted a mid 16 quarter, I wouldn't make it public. A stock 4 litre is capable of matching that. Probably wont sound as good doing though...
