I'm wanting to research into putting a v8 into my AU III XLS Ute... currently a 4.0i6

Just wanting to know what parts will need replacing, swapped or what can stay....

also, will the 1998 NL Fairlane Motor/Running gear be able to be placed into the AU III ?

You'll need to use an engine from an AU3, as putting an earlier engine in is against emission laws...
You'll need all the ancillaries with the engine..
You'll need to change power steering lines, fuel lines, air con lines..
You'll need an ECU to run the 8.. also being a S3 you'll need to sort out a key, as the later AU's had transponders in the keys and it all needs to match..
You'll need to change engine mounts and also use a V8 gearbox...
You'll need to change your engine loom as well...
You'll need a V8 exhaust..

That's just a quick basic list...
