Hi I am unsure where on here to ask but I am trying to find out if there are any laws concerning Type, placement and amount of washers required on a car? I have a 97 falcon wagon and have been shaving a smoothing a few different things on the car and was thinking of moving the washers so that they are hidden and not on the bonnet. Can anyone help. Phone calls I have made have resulted in no answers

I suppose as long as they are pointing at the window and squirt water it dosent matter.
i saw it somewhere someone put the window squirters under the plastic thingo infront of the windscreen so they were hidden. i try and look for it. |

speak to benj as i believe he did this , he moved them from bonnet to the wiper cowl

It may be long, but there is a very handy index on the front page  I moved mine to under the wiper cowl, and used washers off an older car. You can mount yours straight on top of your wiper cowl. Just drill a hole through the firewall to the plenum area, and run some tubing. Cheers BenJ

So basically as long as I can spray some water on the screen its fine and location and the amount of washers are irrelavent

Yep, in a pinkslip, all they check for is operation.
As long as the water can be directed at the center to top of the swept area, you should be fine. BenJ

After many more calls I was given a number for a guy who wash able to answer my question. Now in QLD the rules state that the washers must be the same as when it left the factory and be in the exact some position. No changes allowed. So technically my washers are illegal because they are aftermarket ones because finding the originals in good nic is getting very hard.

Yeah i just read it now it sucks how its not legal in either state!

Basically the way each state has its rules and laws means that if you live on/near a state boarder or drive in other states besides the one your cars registered in you will be breaking the law in some way unless in a 100% stock car and even then your still at risk of being defected for something as silly as not having your windscreen washer bottle full of water
