was planning on putting 100w or 120w h3's (i think their h3?) in my xg for the highbeams as 90% of my driving is night highway driving, but was told by the parts guy he can sell them to me if i really want them, but the headlight loom might not be able to handle the extra current needed by the globe and melt.
anyone able to verify this or anyone running higher wattage globes in a xg? cheers!

What you're planning is to run approximately double the power through existing wiring.
I dont know for certain it will melt, but Ford have been known to skimp on wiring size before. I would definitely upgrade it. The other thing is they will most likely burn the chrome off the reflectors. Best option is to wire up some driving lights that switch on with your high beams. |

if your going to do it make sure of a few things.
1. Relays - absolutely. 2. Clean the headlight lens - you dont want the light reflecting back off the glass and heating up. 3. Make sure you get UV cut globes... the others will cook the reflector. I dont think your reflector will lask. We used to run 90/130's in the XD and XE's. But they have a lot more area to dissapate heat. |

I never thought about the reflectors. Aren't xg lights nearly the same as xd/xe's? Their similar in design, I thought the only difference was the indicators. Was hoping to stay away from driving lights, at least until I get a bullbar. Upgrading the wiring isnt an issue, just curious as to what others have done. Also the low beam is shocking, a friend has a dihatsu serion 3cyl and its got better lights on it

Nope - XD/E lights had just a single H4 globe. The XF/G ones have both a H4 and H3, and the H3 which you are talking about is in a smaller space. Between the two of them you'll get too hot.
What about getting the +50 narva globes in both the H4 and H3's - that will get you a large part of the result you want. I think they even to better now (+80's?) |

I got mixed up with xf lights before
.Ivve got 55/60w 4500k proper xenon h4's their heaps better than the standard halogen, but still a bit dark for my liking. I think they were the uv cut ones, threw out the box before I read it  I guess ill give those narva h3's a go and see what their like, if their still not to my liking il have to get a bullbar and driving lights.
