Hi there,
I have a sprintgas system installed in my EF Fairmont, its a manual with extracors and it used to fly. I noticed after I changed the engine I ran it off petrol for awhile. Then I installed the gas and notice a loss in power. Having looked at the mixer, I realized it is much smaller than the throttle body and have been looking around for a more high performance one. I found this one on EBAY http://cgi.ebay.com.au/LPG-Propane-Auto ... 335d3a7601 and was wandering if anybody on here has used this before and what size to get for the 4.0l I6? Any help would be greatly appreciated |

iv been looking at those mixers too.
iv been swapping mixers around, trying different things, and so am happy with what i got. i have a normal type mixer ring, it had a 42mm inner diameter, but i recently changed to a amos ring with a 45mm inner diameter, and noticed a huge difference. my car will rev out to 5-5500rpm on gas, no worries. interesting thing is though is that economy on the trip computer shows worse than before, but actual k's traveled seems more? wouldnt mind seeing/hearing how those stream mixers go though. |

Someone has bought one from these forums, not sure what size they bought but it wasn't big enough to fit on their car.
Cheers ToranaGuy

I'm guessing this won't impact fuel economy negatively if you increase the size of the restriction?
Otherwise putting the restriction in should improve the fuel economy when running on petrol.

Why would putting a restriction in improve fuel economy when running on petrol? It should make it worse.... Cheers ToranaGuy

Should have said: I'm guessing this won't impact fuel economy negatively if you increase the size of the TB? lol. Fair enough dude. Increasing the size of the LPG mixer is a good thing up to a certain point, as they require pressure drop to draw the fuel in. If you have too little difference in size between the induction pipe & mixer ID, you won't get much pressure drop, and fuel flow will be poor.

Do you have an I6 or V8? i had it in my shed for years from an old XF. main problem i had was having to modify the throttle body to make it fit, as it sits over it. took a bit of grinding, but i got there. its on an I6. |

Im guessing it would be 70mm stream mixer because the outer diameter of the intake tube is 90mm and the inner diameter is 78mm, but I'm not sure about the throttle body. I am about to order it as I have given the measurements to the guy on ebay so should I get the 70mm one or the 50mm one as the throttle body I'm pretty sure is around 50mm on the EF fairmonts? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Just measured my stock mixer, Me thinks its 70mm |

be very interested to hear the results of this.. I've been looking at those same mixers for a while now.. wondered if my systems (which are not all that smart) are capable of working with it.
I have an EL and an EF both with gas that have nasty mixers in them.. the EF one seems to only have a hole of about an inch diameter in it. |

I bought one, ordered the biggest size and it's a lot smaller than the i6 throttle body, would have had to use an adapter to fit it. I asked the seller if he makes any bigger and he said he gave me the biggest...

How'd you go? didn't bother installing because it was so much smaller in diameter to the sprintgas venturi that I figured it wouldn't provide any benefit anyways. I've still got it and would happily give it to someone for free if someone reckons they can make one to fit the 4L...
