Hello Ford Modders.
I've had this problem with my BA XR6 for a while now and it's starting to annoy me, I'm wondering if anyone's experienced anything similar? The issue is, sometimes when the car is idle (eg, waiting at traffic lights), the RPM will drop rather rapidly (to almost zero) and the car will shake slightly like it's about to switch off, then the RPM will increase again back to normal idle again. The oil pressure gauge I have installed drops while this happens too, then goes back to its normal level. If I have the A/C on, it happens more frequently, and sometimes continuously while waiting at traffic lights (ie, drop to almost zero, normal again, almost zero, normal again, etc.) This has been going on for a while, despite changing oil/fluids and having the car serviced regularly. It only occurs when idle. Its never actually dropped out totally, it just drops to a really low RPM, shakes a bit, then kicks back up. Any ideas? |

Yeah my BA does the same sometimes. I am due to replace spark plugs and ill get the throttle body cleaned at the same time. It only happens ocassionally though. Resetting the throttle helps as well.

Very easy, remove the plastic intake going to the TB by removing the 2 10mm screws that screwed in on the manifold and unhook the clips holding down on the air box. Soak a rag with carby cleaner, press the flaps in on the TB and clean away- some people tend to spray the TB and then clean it up with a rag- up to you which way you go. Cheers |

I've had this problem too, aparantly BA's were bad for having the TPS fail, i think late BA's, possibly BF's recieved a new type of TPS which fixed the idle issue. I have installed the new sensor, but unfortunately my car still isn't going, so can't report if it has fixed the problem or not
