thats a very good start...
That will plug into the dash loom plug... You will need to solder these wires onto the wires on the back of the headunit... These wire colours are the industry std colours so when you make your patch harness to go from cd player to dash loom you simply match colour for colour... Cheers, Tim

what do you mean there is no wires in the back of the headunit? Its gotta get power to it somehow... The EF/EL has two plugs from factory... If yours doesn't then the "plug" your looking at isn't the EF/EL ones... They have been cut off already and the pioneer plug soldered straight to the dash loom... If this is the case then it will need to be cut off...
Cheers, Tim

EF plugs (note the plural) will not fit in the bum of a pioneer headunit... Because... EF/EL/AU's have two plugs... No CD players will straight out except these plugs... Cutting EF/EL plugs is pointless because they will NOT fit in the cd player... The only thing you can solder to that plug is the proper pioneer plug that fits it...
Cheers

i'm thinking the plug in the ef is the acutal one that plugs in to the cd player, not the factory one. so you could cut the wires and wire it up

They cut corners and just assume you'll never pull it apart to see their workmanship. You can buy two of those harnesses and that way you don't have to cut/strip/solder anything. You buy one which is suited to your model eb fairmont, and one which is suited to the pioneer head deck. And they just plug straight into each other. Aerpro make the harnesses and you can just ask your local car audio place to order them in. http://www.aerpro.com/vrg.php Quick Connect Adapter APP050 * use with direct quick connect Direct Quick Connect APP8PIO * to pioneer14 pin plug
