Hi guys,

I know the BA/BF clusters are notorious for playing up but i have found when the car is on straight gas the only thing that doesnt work is the fuel gauge. It intermittently comes on and off and when it does come on it indicates the tank is full even when its not.

Anyone have any ideas? Tried a heap of mechanics and what not without any luck. Even tried changing the cluster but that didnt work either. Its driving me insane bc besides going of the km's ive done i have no way of knowing if ill be stranded on an empty tank.

Cheers

Was thinking that but this seems to be a universal problem with all straight gas cars....of course they could all be cactus, who knows. Unfortunately cos the tanks are mounted under the car, they are a pain in the bum to get to now.

Thx station rat :D

The only time Ive had a problem with my BF fuel gauge is when 1 of my senders was faulty.

There is your problem right there... You took it to a mechanic.....
Take it to a LPG Fitter, my money is on a bad connection or a faulty gauge sender....

Never heard of a cluster going bad yet, they seem to be pretty good these days....
Although in saying that how my BA Egas Xcab landed up with an XR speedo boggles the mind, not that I'm complaining mind you :)

Weird that they put XR clusters in ... unless they wanted to show a lower mileage.

Although ... I'd get the calibration checked for anyone with an XR cluster in a lower model EGAS ... there's a difference in the fuel mapping for the trip computer to calculate.

auMatt can check these.

I am well aware this car probably has 800k+ on it even tho the speedo currently has 485k..
But it looks all pretty in blue.. LOL But thanks to a mate upgrading his XR ICC I scored his old one for nix :)

The fuel mapping is quite OK, when I am on empty, 40k's DTE I still have 10+ Litres left... Have never ran out yet so not keen to change it.... Filling up 500/550 kays is fine with me.... Think most I have ever put in it (showing dead empty) was 78 litres... Being a LPG only car, its not like I can switch over so dont tend to push the limits....
