Soooo I yanked out the log manifold tonight, started at 5pm, had it out on the floor pulling the wiring harness out by 6, had the BBM in and done up tight by 7. Then the fun began.
Had to lengthen the wire to that little round plug beneath the throttle body, which is ok except the looms colours are diff, the EBs loom is faded as well so I cant tell what colour the wires are. Anyways, plugged everything in and was left with a spade terminal style plug down near the starter, its def not the solenoid wire as Its big FAT and RED. Sooo, got enthusiastic and decided to fire the b**ch up and see what it would do. rrrr rrrr rrrr dead stop. rrr rrrrr rrrr dead stop. Im thinkin hang on a sec. I didnt touch the dizzy, and the leads have numbers on them from 1 to 6 and are in numerical order no less. Thought hmmm, Maybe I got the fuel lines back to front, so I swapped them over. Rrrrr rrrr rrrrrrr stop. Thought I wonder if the ECU is doing anything it shouldnt be or vice versa. Get the part number by the way, its a 1DCD, is that old?? Plugged in the 6DBB comp from the EL donor car. Rrrrr rrrr rrrr rrrr rrrr rrrr rrrr f**k it. I think I have the fuel on back to front now. Suggestions? |

Helps when the MAP sensor is plugged into the manifold.... and Im sure now that the fuel lines are back to front as I poured some juice down its throat and kicked over and it ran for about 8 seconds... And it ran smoooooooth.

Make sure the fuel return line is connected to the fuel regulator. It's a common mistake to connect the fuel lines the wrong way around. I did it when I put and EF engine in my EA.

Yeah i thought I had them around the wrong way last night so I swapped them around. Then after some tooling around this morning, I realised I was right the first time and swapped them back. After I swapped the rocker cover and put the EL throttle pedal in and rehooked all the vac lines up I gave it a hit on the key and it fired up pretty well straight away. Am impressed with how much smoother this set up runs compared to the old log. The throttle is much more lineal than the old one as well. Next step will be wiring the BBM servo and splicing the loom to get the trip computer running properly. One thing I have noticed is that the oil pressure gauge goes off the clock now when the motor is running. I have one spade terminal doing nothing under the manifold, and another on the oil pressure sender, is it possible they are around the wrong way? And, what would that spare plug be for as I cant see anything there which doesnt have a wire on it.
