Could also be the plug that goes into the side of the box if its not in correctly i just had one on the way to Townsville play up on a AU after hitting a bump and all i had to do was push the plug in properly and problem fixed so give it ago and see if it helps?

Well if it works until you hit a bump then its probably not the pinouts being different. Just sounds like somethings loose.
I have the same thing with my car and it was because of a faulty J3 chip. Same thing as what you've described - power light flashing on and off (and sometimes just staying off in my case) and transmission jumping into limp home mode (which I think is probably happening to you, rather than loosing all gears). Its basically the ECU switching jumping from being on and then into LHM and back again because of an error or loose connection. Try the plugs on the gearbox - make sure they're clean because any bit of s**t and gunk can play with the connection.
